The myelin sheath is the insulating protective cover of the nervous system, the body's complex network of communication highways comprised of nerves, brain and the spinal column. Without it, the nervous system becomes a damaged system of crossed wires and bad message transmission, leading to various medical disorders such as Multiple Sclerosis, more commonly referred to as MS, a neurological disease stemming from a fraying of this protective sheath.

Molecular matter in the body is constantly vibrating, bending and rotating as a result of thermal energy. Since all sound is comprised of vibrations, it is possible to sample it through the transcription of the chemical sounds of the body. A technique called molecular dynamics is used, which captures the changing nuances in the vibrations as the molecule moves and changes, resulting in a voyage along the protein backbone, the sound of myelin unwound.
